Members of Parliament often represent and discuss their communities in Grievance Debates (House of Assembly) or Matters of Interest (Legislative Council).  You may hear Members speak about events in their community, things that need improvement, achievements of people that live in their communities, and more.

In the Legislative Council, on Wednesdays after question time seven Members can speak for five minutes on Matters of Interest.

In the House of Assembly, after question time each sitting day, six Members can speak for five minutes on a Grievance Debate.  The House of Assembly also has “Private Members Statements” on Tuesdays and Wednesdays after question time.  Up to four Members, who are NOT Ministers (Private Members) can make a statement for no longer than 90 seconds.
