We run regular programs for SA public sector employees, with up to 30 attendees from mixed Departments in a session.

During our public sector program, we tour the building and explore the Chambers, while covering:

  • The basics of the Australian legal system (levels of government and their Constitutional/legislative sources)
  • The separation of powers (highlighting the links between the Parliament and the Executive)
  • The relationship between the Parliament and the various SA Government Departments
  • The structures of both Houses of Parliament
  • The passage of a bill, and delegated legislation
  • Estimates
  • Questions with/without notice
  • Parliamentary committees

The key focus is scrutiny of the public sector and the relationship between the legislature and the executive.
