  • Activity workshops

Custom Programs

Would you like your staff to boost their Civics & Citizenship knowledge and gain professional learning hours for free?  The Community Education Office can customise professional learning for your faculty or site.

Depending on timing and location, we can either:

  • Visit your school and present for a faculty/staff meeting, or be part of a training day
  • Connect into your school digitally and facilitate an interactive online session

Sessions can run from 60 minutes to half day workshops.

We can run a standard program from our Parliament 101 Basics Course, or we can custom build a session based on the needs of your site.

Ideas for custom sessions:

  • Stepping through the Civics & Citizenship curriculum for teachers (based on the year levels they teach) with ideas of resources that can be used for each year level and activity demonstrations.  We show ways to extend students, or support students, in the different areas of the curriculum.

  • Exploring site-wide options, e.g. experimenting with school voting processes, SRC structures.  Discussing other methods to embed youth voice and democratic processes in the school culture.

  • Activity workshops – you pick Civics & Citizenship topics, and we run back-to-back examples of teaching activities.

  • Artful Citizenship – Blending Civics & Creativity in the Classroom

A combined program with the Art Gallery of South Australia and the Parliament of South Australia. The first section explores how to teach Civics & Citizenship via conceptual thinking, and the second section shows practical cross-curricular implementation through visual art. There is an AGSA fee involved – learn more here.
