Parliament usually sits on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. There is a sitting calendar on the main website, or you can browse “Parliamentary Business” in our calendar.
Sitting days and sitting weeks do not always look the same. There is a general timetable that is followed, but Members can always vote to change the timetable. For example, they might want to keep debating late into the night, or add on an extra day to their time in Parliament.
There is time set aside during a sitting week for ministers to get their work done (Government Business), and then time for Members that are not ministers (Private Members) to bring up their own bills or motions.
