Parliamentary Basics for Teachers – ONLINE via MS Teams – 3.30pm-5pm 8 October 2024
Assists year 3-12 teachers with understanding:
- the Australian Curriculum Civics & Citizenship & SACE curriculum content;
- engaging strategies for teaching it in the classroom;
- ideas for cross-curricular implementation; and
- the resources available to support in class delivery.
Suitable for teachers new to the content area, or those who could do with a refresher.
Understanding Legislation – ONLINE via MS Teams – 4-5pm 9 October 2024
Suitable for teachers of years 6-12 who would like a deeper understanding of the process of making/changing laws and how to view, track, and find legislation online to use in class. This program covers:
- types of Bills (original, repealing, consolidating, amending, Private Members, Government);
- the passage of a Bill through Parliament;
- using the SA Parliament’s legislation tracker to monitor the progress of a Bill; and
- viewing legislation online.
