Members of Parliament are your representatives. It is their role to listen to the views of people in their communities. You can contact a Member of Parliament about issues of concern to you to have your say.
Many people write to Members of Parliament by letter or email. You can also follow Members of Parliament to see if they are holding street corner meetings, public meetings or are taking other calls for contributions.
Here is a guide to help you work out who to contact when concerned about an issue:
- Is your issue a local, state or federal matter? Check here.
- For local matters, contact your council. There is also a Minister for Local Government, if your concern is about the broader administration of local government in SA.
- For federal matters, contact your Federal representatives.
- For state matters, you can either:
- Contact the local MP that covers your electorate.
Don’t know your electorate? Enter your address into the interactive map. - Contact a Member of the Legislative Council. They represent the whole state.
